Windows with Pidgin 2.13.0

  1. Download Pidgin 2.13.0
Official SourceForge release page for Windows.
  2. Install Pidgin, then choose Accounts → Manage Accounts → Add.
  3. Select the AIM protocol and enter your new screen name and password.
  4. Open Advanced and use these settings:
    Server: aim.142-44-162-98.sslip.io
    Port: 5193
    Security: Require encryption
    Authentication: MD5-based
  5. Leave the proxy option off, save the account, and sign in.

Important: Do not select clientLogin. AOL's original login service is offline; this server authenticates directly through OSCAR. Port 5193 is the public SSL/TLS BOS endpoint and protects OSCAR traffic in transit, but AIM is not end-to-end encrypted. Use a unique password and do not send highly sensitive information.
